A schematic and micrograph  of a double quantum dot defined by voltages on metallic depletion gates deposited on the surface of a 2DEG heterostructure. IQSE researchers using such devices to control quantum evolution of two coupled electron spins (Right) By electrically controlling the singlet-triplet splitting of the two-electron state, spin echo can be formed in the two-level qubit bases of singlet (S) and m=0 triplet (T0). A coherence time in excess of 1 microsecond is found using conventional echo methods to extract the spin dephasing time T2 from the inhomogeneous broadening time, T2*.
