IQSE Postdoctoral Fellowships at Harvard

Applications and nominations are invited for postdoctoral fellowship at a newly established Institute for Quantum Science and Engineering (IQSE) at Harvard University. IQSE is an interdisciplinary research center focused on research and education bridging fundamental studies in quantum science, applied science, and device engineering. Two new IQSE Postdoctoral Fellowship appointments will be made each year to support promising scientists who have recently received a Ph.D. degree so that they may carry out research in any area of Quantum Science and Engineering.

The IQSE Fellowship is for two years with possible renewal. Unlike most
postdoctoral appointments, the possible research topics are not constrained by contract or grant requirements. We specifically encourage interdisciplinary research and collaborations bridging various subfields within the IQSE community. Candidates are encouraged to consult the IQSE website (iqse.harvard.edu) for the list of existing activities that range from quantum information theory to theoretical and experimental atomic and condensed matter physics to optical and electronic device engineering.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, and arrange for three letters of reference. All should be emailed to: iqsefellow@iqse.harvard.edu. Nominations from senior scientists should also be emailed to this address. Alternately, applications can be mailed: IQSE Fellowship, c/o M. O'Connor, Physics Department, Harvard University, Cambridge MA 02138.

Review of applications will begin immediately. Applications should be received by Dec.1, 2006 to receive full consideration for 2007 Fellowship. Harvard is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer. Applications from women and minority candidates are especially encouraged.
